Kinga Krzymińska & Maciej Krzymiński – Biogram
Socially engaged photographers, educators, researchers, parents. Co-founders of OPEN KAMERA CIC.
Kinga and Maciej are a creative duo - visual storytellers and analogue image makers whose work explores the intersections of identity, belonging, and the quiet power of presence. Their cameras are tools not just for documentation, but for connection, reflection, and change.
They met while studying photography at Arts University Plymouth, where they fell in love - with the medium, and with each other. Since then, they’ve been inseparable: in art, in life, and in parenting. Together, they’ve spent over a decade working with artists, communities, and organisations to create images that are as raw as they are real.
Rooted in traditional analogue techniques and driven by curiosity and a /let's play/approach, their practice embraces slowness, imperfection, and experimentation. Whether through darkroom processes, sustainable photographic chemistry, or hand-printed materials, their work is a resistance to digital gloss and an invitation into something more tactile, vulnerable, and human.
Kinga holds a Diploma in Photo-Therapy and brings a deeply reflective, wellbeing-centered approach to her creative practice. Alongside Maciej, she co-founded OPEN KAMERA CIC, a community-focused organisation using photography to build bridges, tell stories, and support others in reclaiming their voice. Their shared methodology, The RAW Portrait & RAW Narrative, is an ongoing research-based approach that reframes photography as a mirror for authenticity - not just how we look, but who we are and what we carry.
Privately, they are parents navigating the daily dance of raising two boys while holding space for creative work. Their life in Plymouth, UK is filled with experiments - on paper, in the darkroom, and at the kitchen table. For them, photography isn’t just a profession. It’s a way of being in the world. A practice of noticing, feeling, and remembering.
Their portfolio spans commercial, documentary, and personal projects, yet always returns to the same truth: that behind every image is a story, and behind every story is a search - for meaning, connection, and home.
